Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo is one of the best shows I have watched recently. It is about a girl who is a member of her colleges weightlifting team. It delves deep into personal trauma as well as some difficulties that people in athletics face. It also has a main girl who is definitely not a "sit still and look pretty" sort. She is capable and confident yet she also has a softer side. The chemistry of the main two is so great and brings the show together. I didn't think I'd like it at first but it is so good and I ADORE IT.

OVERALL STORY: This story is very unique in comparison to other shows I have watched. I mean first of all we get a group of girls who weight lift and are tough. Not that girls in other shows aren't but this is a different kind. You get this plot line with the weight lifting team who is trying to win competitions. You see them grow together and see different parts of their lives. The romance in this show is pretty spot on though and different from other shows. There is a love triangle of sorts but it is more like she is interested in this dude but he has no interest in her. Along with the fact that he doesn't know what he is doing so he is unintentionally hurting her. And she lied to him from the start which is not the good basis of a relationship. However she becomes best friends with Jung Joon Hyung and eventually falls for him. And it adds a completely new dimension to the story. You get some information about Jung Joon Hyung and his crap mother. (Maybe I'm being too harsh. She just hurt him and that equals hate for me) You get to know his family and their problems. There is a lot more depth behind him along with this anxiety of sorts that he faces. There is so much going on in this show.

MAIN COUPLE: THEY ARE SUPER CUTE OH MY GOSH. If you are a fan of Min-hyuk from Strong Girl Bong Soon and his fangirling then I would definitely recommend this show. Jung Joon Hyung has his own fangirling moments. It is so precious to see how much he cares for her along with how much he flirts. She is totally clueless up until he admits his feelings, bless her soul. One of my favorite moments of there's is where they have been together but they've kept it a secret. So his roommate makes him go out on a blind date and she finds out. So she tracks him down and he obviously freaks out when he realizes she's there and then the truth comes out when she claims him as her boyfriend when another girl makes a move on him. It is just such a hilarious yet cute scene. As a couple they are super cute and devoted to each other. She is his stable presence when it seems like he is losing everyone and he is the one who can make her laugh. Oh my gosh I love this couple so much.

OTHER COUPLES: There are two other couples in this show. The weight doctor Jung Jae Yi ends up finding out that his doctor lady friend likes him and he realizes after FOREVER that he likes her too. They go through a lot of rough patches before they get engaged though good heavens. The other couple which unfortunately never got developed (It was in its early stages when the show ended) but it had cute moments. It's between Kim Bok Joo's friend and Jung Joon Hyung's best friend. They try to go on a date and fail but their secretive looks are pretty precious.

KIM BOK JOO: She is such a legit main character. I mean she is not afraid to punch some dude in the face or get back at some jerk girls. I loved her character for her bluntness and her lack of usual femininity. However I love how we do get that side of her that when she starts liking the weight doctor (*gags*) she lets herself start to explore that other side of her. Which is only enhanced when she starts dating the main dude. I loved her character development as she goes through this depressive phase as well as her fathers illness.

JUNG JOON HYUNG: To say I love this guy would be an understatement. He is such a sweetheart and I love his teasing nature. I love how we explore a little deeper behind his usual sunny attitude. He is such a caring person and watching him care for Bok Joo is one of the best things. There is such a depth and such a goodness to his character that makes him so wonderful. (It makes me want to watch Bride of the Water God so bad. I can't find it anywhere)

SONG SHI HO: I didn't expect to like her to be entirely honest with you. At first it seemed like her whole point was to get between the main couple and I would not appreciate that. Which that's what it was at first. She was determined to get back together with Jung Joon Hyung and would do anything to get him back. (Which didn't phase him. He's like honey we are O-V-E-R over.) But then you find out the pressure she is under to be this skinny half starving gymnast and being a gymnast is hard for her. She goes through a lot of growth in this show and becomes pretty amazing by the end.

JUNG JAE YI: Is it bad that I still kind of dislike this guy? I don't have any legitimate reason I really just don't like him. I felt like he was kind of an idiot I mean use your common sense dude. But he was also a generally nice guy I mean he stood in front of Bok Joo so that she wouldn't get hit by a puddle that a car was driving through. He is a good guy I just think he doesn't realize that one can be too nice. Which is addressed in the show. I think the best thing is to watch the show yourself and get an opinion on him cause he's....complicated to explain.
