High Society is exactly as it sounds. It follows mainly the "high society" people in life along with those who are heavily involved with the rich people. It is about four people who have to tangle with the struggles of social and economic differences. Yoo Chang-soo has been privileged his whole life but his world view changes when he meets part timer Lee Ji-yi. Choi Joon-ki has always wanted to be wealthy, it has been the sole focus of his life for years now. However that desire is shifted when he meets Jang Yoon-ha who is the youngest daughter of a wealthy family disguised as a normal part timer. With so much between these two couples can everyone get a happy ending?

OVERALL STORY: Wow this story was a freaking roller coaster! I don't even know where to begin. I guess the biggest part of this story is the differences between the characters money and social wise. There is so much drama about that, which is a little sad. I mean I know people like that still exist today where they think it is important to marry someone of your similar station but I don't particularly agree with that world view. That being said it creates a lot of drama among the four main characters of this show. Especially in regards to Choi Joon-ki. Look in his character description below for my full rant on him. I did think that, although the story had good flow, there were some hiccups in the story especially around the romances. The romance between Joon-ki and Yoon-ha especially had nothing that made it realistic. They kind of give a reason later with Joon-ki using her and all but still I think it would have been better to get some more background on a lot of things. And I felt like the ending did not answer enough of the questions! Did Yoon-ha's parents ever figure out about their marriage? It seemed like they decided to stay together but it also seemed a little to uncertain for me. What happened to Yoon-ha's older sister? Older brother? Annoying sister? How about just her whole family. I kept waiting for some sort of bad thing to happen to the bad people and nothing did. It just felt really incomplete. Note on her family though: I hated most of them. The father only cared about himself and was an absolute cheating jerk. The mother was cruel and heartless and although I did feel pity for her situation she still sucked. The older brother was the freaking best. The older sister was super conniving. And the other sister was the WORST. She was such a brat and I wanted to strangle her every time she was on screen for longer than a second.

MAIN COUPLE #1: I'm going to start with Yoon-ha and Joon-ki because I have the most to complain about with them. This couple was so confusing for the majority of the show. Like they had nothing to back them up as a couple. It was entirely to fast and unbelievable. I do admit the way they started dating was pretty cute. She asked him to be her boyfriend and he's like no which I found really awkward. But then he turned around and he's like the guy has to ask the girl first, so will you be my girlfriend? And then they started dating. This was all within the first couple episodes. The reason they give for this all being so fast is that Joon-ki wanted to use her to improve his social standing and connections. Which that reason does make sense but I think just a couple more moments would have fleshed it out a bit more. That is not to say that they are not cute. Although they were my least favorite couple they did have their moments. He was super sweet to her when she lost her brother (who didn't actually die mind you but that's not important) and he was the support she needed. And they ended really well.

MAIN COUPLE #2: This couple made the show watchable for me. Chang-soo was my favorite character and I loved the chemistry between him and Ji-yi. Although they were just as fast as the first couple to me it made more sense in their case. Chang-soo took her attitude towards him as a challenge and more actively pursued her. And she encouraged him. They didn't really connect until a bit later but by then they had some realistic background for it to make sense. They were super funny though. Like she was constantly telling him that although she didn't think it was going to work out for them she really liked him. I mean she was super open about her feelings for him which you don't usually get in dramas like this. I wish I could pick a favorite moment to talk about with them but there were just so many so talking about one would mean I would have to talk about them all. I will note that towards the end they split up and it takes until the last episode for them to get back together which is the only time I was annoyed with Ji-yi.

YOO CHANG-SOO: He is such a cutie! And my absolute favorite character in this show I mean he made it totally worth watching. He had a very wealthy and privileged background but although he did have manners indictive of such he was still a good person. He wasn't too spoiled and he legitimately cared about those closest to him. And dude he could flirt like nothing which was hilarious. I just thought he was a really dynamic character and definitely brought the show to life. I am also kind of biased because the actor that plays my favorite character from Strong Girl Bong Soon plays him which means he is amazing!

LEE JI-YI: So I liked her for the majority of the show but she really bugged me at the end. Throughout the show she has been a little more outspoken especially in the case of Chang-soo. She was not afraid to say how she felt which is a really admirable quality and one that I wish I possessed. But towards the end when Chang-soo's mother forces them to break up Chang-soo comes back and tries to get back together with her but she basically says no and that money is more important. Which I did understand that although she said that she was having a really hard time but I felt like she was creating drama for herself that she didn't need to have. But by the end she went back to her normal self and I loved her again.

JANG YOON-HA: Oh my heavens she was super great in this show. Although I still like Ji-yi a little better I did love how she didn't take crap from anyone. I mean she was a fighter and there were so many times where I just loved that. She was always the one to tell someone when they were being stupid. And when Joon-ki hurt her she went into full on kick butt mode and I just loved that. She was definitely the coolest in that respect and as such I really enjoyed her character.

CHOI JOON-KI: Okay so I HATED him for the majority of this show. He had these really awful opinions about the way the world worked. And man did he use people. That was his character for the majority of the show for him. He used Chang-soo as a friend and did it to get himself a good position in the company. But then he used Yoon-ha in order to push himself forward which was cruel for her because she didn't deserve that. But in the case of both those characters they got their revenge on him and by doing so they changed his worldview. I just hated whenever he criticized Chang-soo for things that WEREN'T TRUE. I mean he used these stereotypes and in often cases he listed his own qualities and put them on Chang-soo. He said Chang-soo was selfish, entitled, and used people. Believe me Joon-ki is all of those. Oh gosh I hated him so much mostly because he was constantly attacking Chang-soo which is declaring war for me. But I will note that by the end I didn't hate him so much because he changed and apologized for the way he had been. But I don't think I can ever completely forgive him.
