Psychometry (n.): the supposed ability to discover facts about an event or a person by touching inanimate objects associated with them.

He is Psychometric was heartbreaking. It was a really good show but emotionally it was draining. It is about a boy named Lee Ahn who ever since the death of his parents has had the psychometric ability (see definition above.) He is really eager to use it to solve crimes and help his brother (who is not his actual brother but someone who saved him from the fire that killed his parents). However his abilities are not strong or clear enough yet. When he meets a girl in high school called Yoon Jae-In he discovers that somehow with her presence his powers are strengthened. But will their combined abilities be able to solve the puzzle that the mystery has become?

OVERALL STORY: This story was incredibly fascinating. Having a main character with such an ability adds a certain something to your typical crime mystery. However even with that this was such a hard mystery to unfold, it had so many different threads I wondered if it would even be able to be solved at all. But eventually it was. And it was definitely not what I expected. I did think the tie in with the personality disorder alexithymia was interesting and tragic. Alexithymia, if you were wondering, is the inability to feel emotions. It can be overcome not to normal but close. And it plays a huge part in this story, bigger than I thought possible. There was a lot of painful scenes in this show so if you are looking for a show that is light and happy this is the wrong place. The story and plot is good and intriguing. If you are looking for a good show I would definitely recommend this one.

MAIN COUPLE: The main dude needs some serious impulse control because of how eager he is. The main girl gives that to him. She gives him that stability and clearing of the mind. She helps to focus him and gives him the support he needs. Likewise he gives her the support and love and lack of judgement that she has been so desperate for. They have problems just like any other couple but once they get past all of the fighting they are together for life. I just really like the balance they find with each other.

OTHER COUPLES: There is this couple I shipped so hard but she died before they could freaking get together. I don't know, even if she had survived, if they would have ended up together. But she was this bright and happy person. Eun Ji-soo lit up a room and yet she was also serious and straight to the point. She was kind to others and such a good detective. He was cold and had a hard past he didn't want to face. Kang Sung-moo needed someone like her. Not just as friends but more. I feel like both of them deserved the love that they could have gotten together. Ugh don't you just hate missed opportunities. There is also this other relationship between Lee Ahn's best friend and Yoon Jae-in's best friend. I didn't like them as much because I thought the girl was rude to him and he didn't deserve that. But they did have their moments.

LEE AHN: I miss how enthusiastic  and innocent he was at the beginning of the show. He loses that rather quickly once the mystery really starts going. He always looks for the good in people and when they do something to ruin that he is devastated. He easily trusts people but when people lose that trust... it's not good. However I don't see that really as a failing characteristic. It is an understandable one and it is one I find myself too often sharing. He really is a great main character that goes through a lot of growth. But I don't know if I'd consider it all healthy growth.

YOON JAE-IN: I really loved her straightforward attitude. It was nice to have her as a kind of balance to the main guy. He was too spontaneous but she put more thought before she acted. And she had a really hard past with her dad going to jail for being falsely accused of a murder and all of that other crap with people bullying her for her past. She went through a whole ton of growth in confidence which was really fun to watch. And seeing her get the future and life she deserved was one of the best parts of this show.

KANG SUNG-MOO: I can't think of a more heartbreaking character than him. Despite everything he did I really did love him a lot. Due to his problems with alexithymia he killed a lot of people in the fire and everything that came before that. So in a way I don't blame him for that because of his mental state. He was a good brother and a good person. That's why I wish more than anything that his story hadn't been so awful. He deserved better than that. He had been tortured and abused as a child. He had been haunted by his past as an adult. He should have gotten better then he did.

EUN JI-SOO: Why did she have to die?! If there was any one person who shouldn't have, it was her. She was holding everyone together and doing everything she could to solve the case. She was devoted and amazing and I cried with everyone else when she died. It is definitely among one of the worst deaths I have ever seen. She was just so great. I wish she hadn't passed away because we should of had more of her. And she should of had more life.

KANG GEUN-TAEK: Although I hate him for what he did I also feel a little bit of pity. Due to his own mental illness it kept him from living like a normal person. And everything he did, he did out of some twisted sense of love. I have never been so shocked by something in my whole life. It was hard to watch and feel that pity for him despite all of the horrible things he did. What must it be like to live like that?
